Andi Peters

Andi Peters was born in Chelsea, South West London on the 29th July 1970. He attended the Emmanuel School in Battersea and it was during his school days Andi got his first taste of broadcasting when he worked Saturday mornings for a year on an in-store radio station in London. At the age of 17, Andi wrote his first job application letter to the producer of Freetime and landed a job as presenter of a 16 week outside broadcast programme on ITV.

In March 1989 Andi was offered a job presenting But First This (BBC) before moving to Sunday mornings to present CBBC 2, a magazine programme for children. As well as presenting The O Zone, Andi spent two and a half years in the BroomCupboard, linking the Children’s programmes on BBC1. Other programmes he presented whilst at Children’s BBC include Take Two, TNT, EEK and the highly acclaimed children’s consumer programme Short Change.

Andi presented the prestigious Smash Hits Awards in 1993, 1994 and 1995 and was voted Top Personality on TV for 2 consecutive years. He also co-presented Children In Need 1993 and 1994 with Terry Wogan. In 1995 Andi also co-presented the Friday evening adult light entertainment programme Good Fortune. From 1993 onwards Andi produced and directed The O Zone and CBBC specials and finished presenting his third series of BBC1’s flagship Saturday morning show Live & Kicking in Spring ‘96.

Andi left the BBC in May 1996 after signing an exclusive producer / presenter deal with LWT. During this time (1996-1997), Andi presented The Noise and The Weekend Show and Produced, Gladiators: Train 2 Win; An Audience with the Spice Girls and The Boyzone TV Special. In March 1998 Andi joined Channel 4 and took on the venerable title of Commissioning Editor, Children and Young People where he created the award winning T4. Whilst at Channel 4, Andi continued presenting the prime time series Andi Meets…., one on one in-depth interviews with celebrities including Ricky Martin, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey and Gary Barlow. One of his special interviews, Andi Meets Toy Story 2, led to Andi playing a cameo role as a character in the movie itself!

Whilst continuing to present Andi Meets…(Ch4), Celebrity (ITV1), Eden (Ch4) and Rich and Famous (ITV1), Andi also produced An Audience with Kylie (ITV), Record of the Year (ITV) and the highly successful cutting edge drama As If (Ch 4). Andi has also been the man responsible for the media training of Number One artists such as Spice Girls and Westlife,.

From November 2002, Andi fulfilled a life long dream when he joined Capital FM to co-present “Hit Music Sunday” & later went on to present the Weekend Breakfast Shows. During the summer of 2003, he regularly presented Celebrity Extra (Living). From September 2003 to September 2005, Andi was Executive Editor, Popular Music for BBC Television where he over saw their music output, including Top of the Pops.

September 2005 marked Andi’s return to presenting when he joined the team of BBC1’s hit show “City Hospital with Ainsley Harriot and Nadia Sawalha. In October 20005 he travelled to Melbourne Australia to film two BBC1 specials marking the 20th Anniversary of “Neighbours”.

2006 was a very busy year for Andi - as well a continuing to present “City Hospital” and specials for “BBC Breakfast”, Andi undertook one of the biggest challenges of his life when he took part in the ITV1 hit show “Dancing On Ice“(Jan-March 06)–he may have been knocked out in week 2, but such was his impact, that it lead to him hosting a daily spin off show, “Dancing on Ice Extra” for the duration of the show run. During the Summer he hosted “Sunday Feast” for ITV1 and “All Star Variety “ for Five.

Andi returned to the ice in the early part of 2007 to co-host “Dancing on Ice – Exclusive” (ITV1) where, whilst learning to skate, he broke his ankle!! This didn’t stop him from touring the UK when he hosted Dancing on Ice-The Tour! Such was the success of the tour, he took to the road again with Torvill and Dean and donned his skates for the 2008 Tour!!! His most recent venture was appearing as a contestant in Celebrity Masterchef (BBC1, weeknights throughout July 08) where he showed off his culinary skills, made the final, but sadly was pipped at the post!!

Andi begun 2009 with hosting the Golden Globes for Sky One in Jan 2009 alongside Fearne Cotton. He continued his weekly show for Heat Radio, “Hot or Not” as well as segments for Noels HQ (Sky One) and This Morning (ITV1). He also hosted the third sell out nation-wide tour of Dancing on Ice – The Tour in during April and May 2009.
