Andrea McLean
Andrea is the anchor of the hugely popular and award-winning daytime series Loose Women on ITV1. Andrea ended her 11 years on GMTV at the end of 2008 where she had been one of the core team of presenters from when she first presented the weather. During her time at GMTV, she presented various segments to the long-running news and entertainment show, including co-hosting the show with Ben Shepherd and standing in for Lorraine Kelly.
Andrea was delighted to be invited to join the all star ITV1 choir to record the nation's favourite Christmas card in 2007 for the one-off Christmas special - Britain Sings Christmas. In 2006 Andrea was one of the stars of ITV1's Dancing on Ice. This quickly led to Andrea co-presenting the shows spin off programme Dancing on Ice Extra with Andi Peters.
A daring and confident live presenter, Andrea has jumped off Table Mountain in South Africa and loop the looped, strapped to the top of a bi-plane - all whilst talking to the camera.
In 2008 Andrea was invited to be an Ambassador for National Lottery Good Causes and also for Visit Scotland. Andrea is a much in demand awards host and corporate speaker and is hosting this year's Sunday Mail Great Scot Awards in Glasgow.
Andrea was born in Glasgow and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. A trained journalist, Andrea began her career as a freelance travel writer in 1993 after backpacking around the world. She became a staff writer for the London-based agency Central Press Features in 1994, covering TV, film, theatre and book reviews. Other jobs have included being an astrologer, a grill chef, a barmaid and a factory worker. She has maintained her writing skills and is a regular contributor to the Daily Record in Scotland and she has also written for the TV Times, BBC Parenting Magazine, Woman's Weekly, Star Magazine, 19 and Just 17. She is also in the process of writing her first novel. Andrea did hold the RAC Formula 4 Motor Racing License but this has since expired through lack of a racing car and bravery. However, her passion for fast cars remains undiminished.
