Talent Biography
Dr Jack Lewis
The youthful and vivacious brain expert, Jack Lewis (PhD), is rapidly becoming the public-friendly face and voice of science and technology. Brimming with energy and enthusiasm, he has just finished filming Body Language Secrets for Sky One, which transmits on Monday nights at 8pm as of February 2010, repeating at the same time on Saturday nights on Sky Two. Prior to this Jack presented Sky One’s 3-part series Naked Britain, taking a light-hearted look into British attitudes to nudity. When not filming, Jack has consulted for Tiger Aspect on Britain’s Best Brain for Five at the end of 2009, and also worked on developing science-based documentaries for Blink Films.
Dr Jack co-presented a 20-part social psychology series for BBC2 called The People Watchers, where he performed a wide variety of social psychology experiments on unsuspecting members of the public. Previously he was science consultant (and featured actor) on a 2-hour documentary for Channel 4 and National Geographic, describing the biological processes that take place Inside the Living Body from birth until death.
He contributed to the 5-part strand ‘Teen Club’ for This Morning and a 3-part prime-time ITV series called How to Get More Sex . Dr Jack designed and ran a Brain Gym in central London, where he tested the brain power of the public, offering advice on how to improve memory and strategy.
He was the face of Faraday 2008 for the IET’s ‘Technology For Life’ spectacular leading a nationwide tour of live events aimed at getting 11- 16 year olds engaged in Science, Technology, Engingeering and Maths. The films were broadcast on Teachers’ TV in March 2008 as part of the National and Science Engineering Week.
Jack has contributed to the health/science pages of the Mail on Sunday and London Lite. He has also appeared on various regional and national radio stations discussing subjects such as the effects of partying hard on the human brain.
His research in neurobiology which earned him a PhD from the University of London involved using fMRI brain scanning to investigate multisensory perception – specifically investigating where in the human brain what we see is merged together with what we hear to improve perception. During his undergraduate days in Nottingham, Jack co-founded an extremely successful club night featuring every DJ from the “drum and bass” hall of fame over three years of monthly events, yet still managed to achieve a First Class degree in neuroscience.
Daredevil Jack loves to travel: having surfed, climbed, dived, skated and white water rafted in various different countries all around the world.
